Fabric for DIY Nursery Projects!

I picked out some fabric for baby girl's nursery projects from Fabric.com

Chevron
Mint Dot

The plan is to make a DIY adjustable crib skirt, curtains, a pillow, fabric canvas art and maybe even an ottoman!

DIY hardwood re-finishing Part 2

After you have finished sanding down your hardwood, you will need to vacuum, vacuum, and then vacuum again. (No matter how many times you look at the word "vacuum" the spelling still doesn't seem right!)

Your supplies for part 2 of this project (besides a shop vac for all of the above mentioned vacuuming!) include:

Several old rags
Mineral Spirits
Paint roller/extension
Roller cover
Paint tray
Foam brushes (we used a 3 inch size)
Polyurethane
(we specifically chose a polyurethane that recommended 3-4 hours between coats so that we could try to finish in one day, you may need a different gloss or stain if you are matching up with the rest of hardwood)

After vacuuming, you will need to rub your sanded floor with mineral spirits using a clean rag over the entire floor. You will need several rags and to keep turning over the rag to a clean area as you will be picking up a lot of dust/film even after vacuuming.
This step does not take that long to dry, but I would allow an hour or two before moving on to the next step if doing this all in one day.

Next, you will need to tape your trim in the room and prep for the polyurethane.
You will need to use the foam brush for the edges of the room, only do a small area at the far side of the room at a time. (You will want to work your way out of the room so you don't get trapped in a corner!)

Try to roll the polyurethane with the grain of the wood for the smoothest result. Do several passes working your way up and down the floor in even coats, then repeat the edging and rolling process over the entire floor until complete.

You may need to do a light sanding between coats if there are any rough spots.
We decided to do a 3rd coat the next morning, although we probably could have gotten away with just the 2 coats.

The finished product:

This after picture was taken much later when we had finished patching the walls and primed the walls and painted the ceiling. (And by "we" I mean my husband because we found out I was pregnant during this process! Good thing my momma and I finished those floors when we did!)

Finally, you will have to replace shoe rail/trim and paint them. We still need to finish up the trim.
We bought the nursery wall paint and hubby is going to paint this week, then my momma will help with the trim and trim paint.

Here's a look back at the pictures throughout!
